🎲 Catskills Monopoly

The Monopoly board has entered the prototype phase. This has been a journey! The board has been fully designed with towns, reservoirs, rivers, fire towers, historical train tracks, and more. The Chance and Community cards are finalized, and the dice are almost ready to roll. The next step is receiving the sample to ensure it's up to snuff for all of you, then placing the big order. I'll be sure to share product shots when it arrives!

🎣 Angler Report

I've found myself standing in the Esopus for four nights in a row in pursuit of a very particular fish—specifically, a rainbow trout that I estimate to be 23 inches and has been quite successful in fattening up for the colder temperatures ahead.

It all started when I made my way to one of my favorite spots, tying on a dry fly to match the Isonychia hatch that was underway. On the first cast, I saw a flash under the surface. Holy crap, that’s a big fish, I thought to myself—and very likely muttered out loud. Minutes or maybe an hour passed; time seemed to stop as I emptied my entire fly box, trying to find a pattern that would get this fish to move. Finally, I re-rigged, switching to streamers (for those who don’t fly fish, this is a BIG pattern designed to mimic smaller fish)—a Drunk & Disorderly, to be precise. On the first cast, the fish exploded out of the water, granting me my first good glimpse. It missed the streamer completely, and I swear it laughed and flipped me off with a fin before disappearing.

The next day, I had another opportunity, but the fish bit the tail of the streamer, missing the hook and quickly realizing it was a ruse. The following days proved to be less productive in the pursuit. Sure, I caught other trout each evening, and found some solace standing in the water, but I would have loved the chance to fight that fish... only to release it to watch it swim off.
