Night Sky: New Moon

Mark your calendars for December 30th - we're getting a New Moon to close out 2024. This is when the Moon plays hide and seek with the Sun, becoming completely invisible to us earthbound observers as it passes between Earth and our local star. For all you photographers and stargazers out there, this moonless night offers prime conditions for capturing the Milky Way or doing some long-exposure shots of our mountain landscapes under the stars.

We're doubling up again this week! Our feline friend Starsky is a loyal and coy gentleman who's found a bestie at the shelter named Stripes (two cats are better than one, just saying...) learn more about adopting him. And for our canine companion, meet Sammy - an 11-year-old English Cocker Spaniel with a big heart who loves the outdoors and is very food motivated (relatable) Learn more about adopting him.

Through hands-on workshops and personal consultations, they share expert guidance on everything from wildlife habitats to forest health.
