🛣️ ROAD-TRIPPING

Currently writing this newsletter from a cabin along the Arkansas River in Colorado. I’m in phase 1 of my annual roadtrip from the Catskills out west, in pursuit of more trout. Last night, as the sun was setting, I missed a few bites on some dries, but managed to solve the fishy puzzle by tying on a large grasshopper pattern and bouncing it off the banks along the undercut of the swift moving waters. Rapid fire hit and a miss as the trout started going crazy. Finally, I hooked into a few beautiful brown trout and brought them to net, which brought me some solace as moments later I snapped my rod climbing my way back out of the thick brush and cacti-laden riverbank.

So send any recommendations for 5 weight rods as I’m reluctantly forced back into being in the market. Luckily, I still have a 4 and 6 weight in the trout wagon.

📈 COMMUNITY UPDATE

Our little Catskill Crew community is about to exceed 5,000 folks. It’s amazing to see how quickly we have grown together! I’m excited to keep building our community, for the people, by the people. We have had so much fun in a short period of time, and now with fall sneaking up on us, I want to get more creative about what else we can do. The gears are turning my friends. Appreciate you all!

Our Pet of the Week is Mango Lilly. She is a 7 month old mystery breed, topping out with 13.7 out of 10 pup points. She is up for adoption at the Walden Humane Society adopt her

We are lining up another Crew Cruise for October. This time with karaoke. Personally, I’m more of a backup dancer due to a voice that cracks when I try to hit the high notes, but I may make an exception for you all and Captain Nick.
