GATHERING

Catskill Crew is teaming up with MakerShip in Hudson for a new series of hands-on workshops.

If you don't know MakerShip — they're a nonprofit makerspace run by Crew Member Evan Collier, a designer, fabricator, educator, and one of the most creative humans I’ve ever met.

The massive space is loaded with CNC machines, 3D printers, laser cutters, woodworking tools, and a lot of things I can’t even name but am eager to start messing with.

Our very first workshop kicks off on Oct 3rd: Welding for Beginners.

You'll learn how to identify metals, different types of welding, cutting, surface prep, and finishing. Then you'll put all this new knowledge to work by creating your very own coat rack made out of old horseshoes.

There’ll be sparks, grinding, and the whole shebang. After the welding is complete, we’ll crack open some cold beers from Hudson Brewing Co. and pat ourselves on the back.

In the end you'll have learned a new skill, you’ll take home a new coatrack that you made with your very own hands, and you’ll have made some new friends.

No experience necessary. Spots are limited. Grab a ticket, come on out, and get ready to make some stuff.

FROM THE MOUNTAINS

SKY: The Milky Way’s bright core is holding court over the night sky. Spot the Teapot in Sagittarius (south to southwest after dark) and follow the “steam” rising from its spout. That’s the dense heart of our galaxy, about 26,000 light-years away.

QUEST UPDATE

I was en route to the river early Saturday morning and in need of some fishing fuel.

So I popped into Andes General Store on Main Street to grab a breakfast sandwich to go. Back behind the wheel, I unwrapped the foil and revealed breakfast beauty.

I’ve eaten so many darn sandwiches on the hunt for the best breakfast sandwich that I instantly knew this one would be making it to the final list.

A perfectly branded buttered brioche bun (the BBBB). An absolute delicious mess of cheese, with a skirt of crunchy bacon falling out of every side, and a jammy yolk done just right.

This was an absolute stunner. A sleeper hit. A sandwich that more people need to know about.

As a result, the Breakfast Quest results have been updated accordingly.

DINNER CLUB

We’re ringing the dinner bell once more — this time in Kingston on October 8th at 6:30PM.

HOW THIS THING WORKS:

✦︎ During dinner, everyone across town will receive a notification with the secret location of an afterparty. This is optional, so if you’re in a food coma, you can go home and sleep it off.

A JOURNEY OF SOUND

TOGETHER WITH RIVER VALLEY BAROQUE

After two sold-out concerts, River Valley Baroque is back, this time taking us on an epic journey that starts in the Renaissance and crescendos all the way to the legendary Leonard Bernstein.

The venue? The one-and-only Basilica Hudson, a reclaimed 1880s industrial factory with ceilings that soar and reverb that echoes for days.

From the angelic voices of the singers, to the virtuosos on piano and organ, to the rarely-performed music itself — September 27th is going to be a special one.

The bar begins serving libations at 3PM and the musicians take the stage at 4PM. Prepare thyself to experience acoustic transcendence.
