Hey there. This edition overflow’eth. I do hope you enjoy and I’ll see ya out there.

TROUT CAPS

It’s a big week my friends. After many moons and a lot of hard work (perhaps too much hard work) — the TROUT CAPS HAVE ARRIVED.

The Trout Cap is a completely custom design and a true labor of love. From the patch, to double trout rim, mayfly badge of approval, metal clasp, custom tag, and more… They are ready and eager to get out into the rivers and mountains.

Disclaimer: They come with a 100% guarantee that they’ll help you catch more fish. Especially if you leave no trace and kick over any rock cairns you may come across.

FYI my mom is in town so I bought a bottle of white wine to bribe her into being my packing assistant. We promise to get these out to you FAST.

SURVEY RESULTS

There were thousands of survey responses that came in — so first off, thanks to all you folks that took the time to respond. A few pieces of feedback kept rising up that I thought I’d share.

  1. Crew Members want me to throw more events. Understood. I promise to try my best to keep delivering on this front. Note: The Dinner Club and Mushroom Madness event are both this week - come on out and say hi.

  2. Crew Members want more photographs in the newsletter. Ok. Let me play around with this.

  3. Crew Members want a marketplace — I imagine something like FB Marketplace. I’m intrigued. I’ll brainstorm.

  4. Crew Members want more volunteering opportunities. This warms my heart. Stay tuned.

  5. Crew Members want to see interviews with locals. Well, I’m excited to say I brought on a new contributor a few weeks ago and we have big plans.

I sent an email to the survey winner and still haven’t heard back. Check your inbox for the subject line CATSKILL CREW: WINNER. Claim it within the week or I’m picking someone else.

BREAKFAST QUEST

Status report: As I work my way through the top 20 most voted for sandwiches, I managed to eat 9 in 24 hours. There are 11 more to go, I’m not feeling well, but I put my body on the line for our noble mission. More updates coming soon. This should really be sponsored by TUMS (if you work for them, reach out).

LAST WEEKS SCRAMBLE: FISHER

HAPPENINGS

The very first Mushroom Madness event is coming to town and it's going to be a grand time.

The day will be full-on mushroom stuff from morning to night at Hilltown Commons in Rensselaerville — a special place dating back over 100 years. Sprawling across 90 acres, there are trails, beautiful residences, a theatre, a lake, a pub… and a bunch of goats that just kinda follow you around if they get out.

We'll be foraging with John the mycologist from Catskill Fungi, crafting mushroom paper with Roberta from BlueSpruceWandering, enjoying a beer tasting with Return Brewing, jamming to vinyl with DJ Harlan, and enjoying good food from Lil' Piece.

The Annual July 4th Party at the one and only Deer Mountain Inn is coming up fast.

Crew Members get discounted EIGHT DOLLAR tickets which get you: UNLIMITED BBQ by James Beard Nominee Chef Corwin Kave (while it lasts), there’ll be vinyl tunes, lawn games, a cash bar, an oyster bar, and one of the best mountain views from the lean-to up the trail.

P.S. We made some sweet limited edition and limited quantity bandanas for the event. First come, first serve. I hope to see you there.
